Google Maps updated to v5.7 with Transit Navigation, better search, photo viewer [video]



Google just updated Google Maps with Navigation to v5.7.0 which introduce a major feature called Transit Navigation and a handful features such as Updated Directions, Improved Search Suggest, Photo viewer for Place pages. Let’s have brief look at the new features:
Transit Navigation:  Google Maps Navigation (Beta) now added Transit Navigation which provides navigation instructions for public transportation in more than 400 cities around the globe. This is very useful in a foreign city where you don’t speak the language and can’t read the route maps or understand the announcements. When you are on trip using Google Maps Navigation, you can even launch another application and Google Maps will still display an alert in your notification bar and vibrate your phone when your stop is coming up or time to make a transfer. You can Plan a trip using public transportation 400+ cities around the globe. For a better idea watch below the video overview of Transit Navigation:
Updated Directions: In Google Maps now Navigation icon will automatically appear and with just a single click you can get access to step-by-step directions in place for driving and walking which does not currently appear for public transit.
Improved Search Suggest: Google Maps now added a bunch of category icons which will show the type of search result allowing to find quickly what you want and even any place you got directions to or called directly from its Places page will be included as a suggestion for a relevant search.
Photo viewer for Place pages: Since google introduced business photos in Google Maps, millions of photos have been tagged around the world. Now Photo Viewer in Google Maps application will allow user to see the images tagged to certain locations.

Not all applications are available to all phones. The desired application may not be available for your device, depending on factors like your Android OS version, Your screen resolution or the country from which You are accessing the Android Market.

  1. Open your preferred Barcode scanner software (Do not have barcode app? Get one here).
  2. Point your phone camera at the QR code below and scan it.
  3. Follow the onscreen instructions to proceed with the installation.


Search Android Market


  1. Open Android Market on Your phone
  2. Go to "Search"
  3. Type "AAAAA" in the search field and hit "Search"
  4. Once you find the "AAAAA" app, choose "Install" and follow the instructions
