Nokia Lumia 920 Vs iPhone 5 Vs Galaxy S III Vs Motorola Droid Razr HD

Both the Lumia 920 and the iPhone 5 launched, and to give you some overview about the specifications Lumia 920 compared with its major competitors, here's a comparison.

When we look at the specs of the iPhone 5 versus Samsung Galaxy S III, the Nokia Lumia 920 and Motorola Droid RAZR HD, we can see patterns emerging, such as all the iPhone 5′s competitors have a screen that’s at least 720p (1,280×720 pixels), dual-core 1.5GHz processors, an updated operating system (although that’s debatable in the case of Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich), an 8-megapixel camera and 4G LTE — all functioning as de facto standards in this highest echelon of smartphone goodness.

Five Reasons Why Nokia N9 Is Better Than Apple iPhone 4S

It’s already more than a year when we compared the Nokia N8 and Apple iPhone 4. What we did was we highlighted the things that makes your Nokia N8 standout against the iPhone 4. Although it was not so geeky and numerical comparison, still, we did enlightened you on what are the sweet things you shouldn’t miss.

And now, it’s the time to relive again the Nokia vs Apple comparison by giving to you the highlight of why Nokia N9 is a better smartphone compare to Apple iPhone 4S. These following things, of course, are the features that me and others considered most and preferred to have. Well, we just love being special and not too common.

Unique Design.

The Nokia N9 definitely brings some of the ground-breaking hardware features that you won’t find in any current smartphone like even on the latest Apple iPhone 4. What makes it so extravagant in terms of design is the curved all-touchscreen. Means you would see graphics from the phone like they are floating on the button-less front. Also, what makes it more unique is the colorful uni-body design. Purely made and constructed to fit into a single body. Colors are available in Hot Pink! or Magenta, Cyan and Black.

Why we don’t like the iPhone 4S’ design?

I really admit that I was disappointed with iPhone 4S design that it is still the same on iPhone 4 because it lacks uniqueness or distinctiveness from the other. As a user, I would still prefer to be different from the others and not to put myself on a too common place.

Just Swipe all the way.

Navigate and multitask in your phone with just easy gesture on your screen. That is what the Nokia N9 offers to you, Swipe interface all the way. With MeeGo, the Nokia N9′s experience will be a pleasure because of its simplified software interface. A button-less experience that is first on N9 and not from iPhone 4S.

Why you need to swipe the iOS5?

The thing is, iOS still missed to have the real multitasking even on latest iOS 5. iPhone 4s has new great soft features with the latest iOS 5 but Apple was already late on formulating and bringing a real smartphone (computer alike) simplified experience. On Nokia, we already saw it in MaeMo 5 and previous ones.

Everything will be simpler with NFC.

I have tried the power of NFC on new Symbian Belle devices and I can say that you will easily love it. You will miss it much once you’ve left it. It’s really a must have feature in your smartphone especially on your super multimedia capable Nokia N9.

Why iPhone 4S don’t have it?

We really don’t know why did Apple missed to include such an important feature in a latest smartphone. But thankfully Nokia is already making their new devices and accessories NFC enabled. Yeah! Angry Birds Magic fever for all!

True Bass. Real Treble. Pure Sound. Only with Dolby.

If you’re one of the people interested in real music and video, then having the Nokia N9 is definitely the key to leveraged your experience to it. Thanks to the Dolby and Nokia for bringing one place of true surround sound experience right into your pocket. Only on Nokia N9.

Why not on iPhone 4S?

Seriously, wishing to have superb multimedia experience like on music, video or camera doesn’t rely much on having a good software layout. Why? Because the hardware features are still the primary key to get what you want. Instead, don’t be too hyped on getting apps to make a ‘boombastic’ multimedia output.

Free Nokia Maps.

Once you’ll have a Nokia smartphone, it also guaranteed that you would get the best navigation and mapping features. Nokia Maps supports both drive and walk navigation with personalized and entertaining voice guide. And now with the Nokia Maps being improved, getting lifetime traffic and 3D world into your pocket is possible. So why not miss this one on Nokia N9?

Why getting lost on iPhone 4S is possible?

Nokia Maps is one of the most popular services and apps that Nokia offers to all, yes, even on Androids and iOS too. It’s proven navigation and mapping system that works for mobile and computers, so, getting lost is not an option because you could always find your way either offline and online. And it’s absolutely free and you don’t need to rely anymore on getting paid mapping apps.

Feel free to drop your thoughts here on why Nokia N9 or Apple Iphone 4S is better compare to another. Also if you have things to add up on the N9′s superior features please do share it by commenting below.
So, have you already decided on which one to get?

Video: Browser Speed Test, Nokia N9 vs iPhone 4 #NokiaVNN

Here’s a comparison of the browsers between the Nokia N9 and iPhone 4. The result is very close, it isn’t clear cut.

This is a quick Speedtest an iPhone 4 against a brand new Nokia N9.
They are approx. just fast, you would never notice the difference.
Is it a problem? iPhone 4 is fast enough?

Cameras: Nokia N9 vs Nokia N8 (vs iPhone 4S) #nokiavnn

Jay Kim of ShootSpeak has compared the cameras of the Nokia N8 against the Nokia N9. Both with and without flash, in this indoor situation the N8 fared much better. N9′s is actually a lot worse than previous samples I’ve seen.

This is a very limited set for now, and for better comparison (and fairer assessment) it would be more helpful seeing more pictures in more conditions. I’d expect such articles to appear soon as the N9 availability spreads.

Whilst we’re here, I thought you guys might want to check out an article by Steve Litchfield comparing the specs of the Nokia N8′s one year old camera against the new iPhone 4S. The N9 isn’t in their roster.

iPhone 4S' 8MP Camera vs Nokia N8's 12MP Carl Zeiss Camera Lens

Steve Litchfield from All About Symbian has discussed the comparison between latest iPhone 4S 8 Mega pixel camera and Nokia N8's 12 Mega pixel Carl Zeiss Camera Lens.

The Apple iPhone 4S was announced last night, with one of the chief improvements being a better camera with better Back Side Illumination, wider aperture and an extra optical element. Leaving aside other elements of the iPhone 4S (which, interestingly, retained its 3.5" screen), such as the Siri voice control, We thought you might be interested in a comment or three on the 4S's camera, as it compares to some of Nokia's camera phone units.

Primarily, its crucial light-gathering ability, by far the biggest factor when considering how a smartphone camera performs when the light is less than optimal (i.e. not sunny!)

DeviceSensor sizeF stop (max aperture)YearRaw Light gathering ability 'quotient'Light gathering ability (BSI-compensated)
Nokia N81/1.83"2.820103.813.81
Nokia N861/2.3"2.420093.283.28
Apple iPhone 4S1/3.2"2.420111.702.88
Samsung Galaxy S II1/3.2"2.220112.022.62
Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc1/3.2"2.420111.672.17
Nokia N82 (and N95)1/2.5"2.820072.042.04

Apple's keynote claim, that the Back Side Illumination means up to 70% more usable light reaching the CMOS sensor, is extravagant but possible. Essentially, BSI involves changing the position of the sensor's wiring so that no unwanted reflections or obstructions mar the photon detection. With BSI compensation, you can see that the iPhone 4S's camera could potentially produce better results in indifferent light than even the Galaxy S II - but it's still some way short of the raw light gathering potential of the two year old N86 and far short of the one year old N8.
Add in the use of Carl Zeiss optics in the N8 and add in the Neutral Density filter (for handling bright sunny conditions and ensuring that too much light doesn't get through to the sensor), and the N8 stays even further in the lead. Then add in the proper Xenon flash, almost unique these days to the Nokia N8, which takes care of indoor, low light situations (parties, events, meets, living rooms, clubs, etc) and, on the camera front at least, the N8 and iPhone 4S are still some way apart.

Just in case you were wondering! You may also be puzzled that the N8 has a comparatively high 'F' number, meaning a smaller aperture, when compared to the newer Galaxy S II and iPhone 4S cameras.  The latter two devices have deliberately larger apertures, again to try and capture more light to fall on their physically limited 1/3.2" sensors. This is a valid approach but does have the disadvantage that there will be significantly less depth of field. Great for arty portraits and macro shots where you want everything blurred in the background, not so good for generic photos. Balancing F 'stops' and shutter speed has always been part of the art of traditional photography - it's no surprise to see different manufacturers tinkering with a different balance/formula in smartphone camera technology.

Nokia N8 vs Nokia N9 - Symbian^3 vs MeeGo

Since its announcement, the Nokia N9 has been a hot topic. At Nseries, we wanted to know how well the N9 really stacked up as the big brother of the Nokia N8. To find out, we highlight 11 BIG differences between the two.

1. Screen
The Nokia N8 has a capacitive touchscreen that measures 3.5 inches while the Nokia N9 has an additional .4 inches at 3.9.

2. Resolution
Screen resolution for the N8 sits at 360 x 640 pixels while the Nokia N9 has increased to 480 x 854

3. Size
The N9 is slimmer than the N8. The dimensions for both phones look something like this:
N8 – 113.5 (L) x 59.1 (W) x 12.9 (D) mm
N9 – 116.5 (L) x 61.2 (W) x 12.1 (D) mm

4. Sound
While both phones support a 3.5mm phone jack, the Nokia N9 can boast the world’s first smartphone with Dolby digital plus decoding and Dolby headphone post-processing technology.

5. Camera
The N9 sticks with the winning formula that made the Nokia N8 stand out as a camera phone. The obvious changes though are the N9 packs an 8mp camera with Carl Zeiss optics, autofocus and dual-LED flash compared to the 12mp camera of the N8.

6. CPU
While the N8 runs on a 680Mhz ARM 11 processor the Nokia N9 has been given more punching power running a 1 GHz Cortex A8 CPU – so you can expect a smoother experience.

7. RAM and Bluetooth
Nokia N8 has got 256MB of RAM while Nokia N9 has got a huge 1GB RAM which makes multitasking experience so smooth, on the Bluetooth part, N8 still has more weight-age because of Bluetooth 3.0 while Nokia N9 is equipped with Bluetooth 2.1

8. Operating System
On release the N8 supported the Symbian^3 OS. The Nokia N9 will run off MeeGo v1.2 Harmattan

9. Swipe
The N8 operates off of 3 customisable homescreens which give you the ability to use up to 18 possible widgets and arrange them as you see fit. The N9 uses a ‘swipe’ home views system. These are 3 views which help keep things simple. They are split between:
1) The application view – this is where you have access to all your apps
2) The multi-tasking view – the N9 can run up to 100 apps simultaneously so you needn’t be worried about multi-tasking without experiencing any lag
3) The events view for social networking feeds, notifications, calls, texts or calendar events
All you need to do is swipe to change between each one!

10. NFC
The Nokia N9 comes pre-loaded with NFC, which if you haven’t already seen, works like magic with the new Nokia Play 360, taking just a tap to sync up.

11. Buttons
The N8 has a button placed in the bottom left-hand corner which operates as a ‘home’ button. The N9 has no buttons! Making it the world’s first pure touch-screen smartphone.

So, there you have it, our BIG differences between the N8 and N9.

iPhone 4 Retina Display pawned by Nokia E7 ClearBlack Display

The engadget guys have managed to put a comparison on Apple’s iPhone 4 Retina display against on the new CBD (ClearBlack Display) technology of Nokia. As we all know, these two new technological terms had just appeared this year, but what we don’t know if these technologies are really a worth to consider as a breakthrough. Let’s see on the comparison.

Few months back when Apple introduced the iPhone 4, they also highlighted its one feature, the Retina Display as one of the breakthrough that iPhone 4 have giving it a better viewing output from the screen. Whilst today, Nokia also delivered the CBD technology to their new Symbian^3 devices, Nokia E7, Nokia C7 and C6-01. What they managed to innovate from the previous works they have is the layering of a blacker screen background and by repositioning the screens, and last is the combining to AMOLED. As Nokia said, CBD provides less power consumption and resulting to a better viewing experience for users.

Nonetheless, we should see the comparison to know if how do they differ and which you consider a better viewing experience. So can you spot the difference?

Video: Nokia N8 vs iPhone 4 on GT Racing game

It’s no doubt that the Apple iPhone 4 is one of the best gaming device out there. But what we have now is the Nokia N8 that is a top-notch cameraphone and somehow could par the iPhone 4 in gaming capabilities. The proofs were the different enhanced 3D games demoed not only on Nokia N8, but as well to other Symbian^3 devices like Nokia E7, C7 and C6-01.
Check out the Need for Speed on Nokia E7
Check out Hero of Sparta, Guitar Rock Tour and more on Nokia N8
So let’s see if how these two devices play the game GT Racing.

Nokia N8 vs. iPhone 4 Camera Comparison in London

The Nokia N8 is the first Symbian^3 device of Nokia to enter the market this year. It’s a high-end device offering wide range of multimedia features yet an affordable smartphone over its offered features. It has the 12 MP camera loaded with Carl Zeiss optics and Xenon Flash, and it can record videos in HD (72op @ 25fps). The N8 includes the biggest camera sensor in the whole mobile industry and against the other compact cameras.

On the other hand, the iPhone 4 is a smartphone with 5 MP camera and LED flash whilst it records in HD @30fps. The thing that Apple should be proud of iPhone 4′s camera is the BSI or the back-illuminated sensor.

The thing is, these devices have different pixel count, aspect ratio, and type of sensor, but by looking to the results of the Endgadget comparison we would tell which is better. See the photos below.

Conclusion
By looking to these few sample shots we would see that the iPhone 4 shots are over saturated compare to Nokia N8. You would notice the over saturation especially on the 3rd photo sample. Whilst the Nokia N8 shots are natural and really reflects on what are the real subjects.

Nonetheless, it’s my personal assessment on the comparison, but you’re personal say is always welcome.

Nokia N8 vs iPhone 4 – Ten Things Why Nokia N8 Is Better

First of all, let’s face the inconvenient truth that there is no perfect smartphone in this planet, but still we could consider that there is one smartest out there. Both Nokia N8 and iPhone 4 are candidates, so we will see if which part of my lists does Nokia N8 really standout against iPhone 4.

Checkout Nokia N8 vs iPhone 4 Camera comparison
Checkout Nokia N8 vs Apple iPhone Gaming

Price
One of the biggest advantage of Nokia N8 over the iPhone 4 is the price. With the price tag of €370 euros before taxes and subsidies, and converting it to pounds would give us £300. Comparing to the iPhone 4 (unlocked) 16GB with a price of £499 and £599 for 32GB. Therefore making the Nokia N8 much cheaper for a smartphone with cool multimedia features and especially Symbian^3 os.

Design
We admit that the iPhone 4 is slimmer, but there are consequences on this, like on the camera performance e.g. zooming and sensor size. For the color variants of Nokia N8, the mass is already have a wide choice for their taste on the color. There are currently 5 anodized casing for N8 the dark grey, silver white, green, blue and orange For the iPhone 4, there are two the white and the black (no pun intended) and obviously I don’t like that my phone is mistakenly identified by others as an iPhone 3GS or iPod touch.

Video Call
The limitations of Apple facetime for the Wi-Fi connection and iPhone to iPhone is what Nokia already solved and made possible long time ago to their devices. So in N8 you will not be bounded by connections and you will get connected for the video calls in any capable devices.

HDMI + Dolby Surround
Another one few specs that a 2010 smartphone have is the HDMI connection where you can connect to your home theatre. With HD TV you will get a crisp and clear visual treatment as well as with your sound with the Dolby Digital Plus.

Memory
The Nokia N8 has a 16GB internal storage plus giving you a chance to add an external hot swappable microSD card up to 32GB.

USB On-the-Go
If 48GB of storage is not enough for you then consider this USB on-the-go feature where you can read and make slave USB sticks from external hard drive like on this 250GB hdd.

Usability (Reception issue)
If you’re afraid to get a bad reception just because of the phone’s inability to not allow you to have a proper grip, well, isn’t that obvious that this could be one of the biggest mistake that Cupertino company made? Eventhough Nokia N8 isn’t launched yet, we all know that this Finnish giant have more than 1 billion of devices out there and we never have the incidents where people protests just because of the reception issue.

Sensor
To have the biggest camera sensor in the field of camera phones—and even bigger than the other p&s cameras—means that we are having the right innovations. By the size of the N8 and to its one of a kind features, it really shows that this is an advance feature that Nokia N8 will hold against competitors.

Xenon flash
It is still a strong advert of manufacturers that LED flash can provide you enough light for taking pictures. But it is still a fact that xenon flash are the one who leads in the technology of flash for compact cameras as well as to mobile phones. What Nokia did is they reduced the size of the flash to 30% less compare to Nokia N82 & without losing the power.

Editing software & Ovi Maps are free (Symbian^3)
If you’re phone has an HD capable video recording and Symbian^3 on N8 has an on-board video editor and without pulling some extra bucks from your pocket, of course. The same on Ovi Maps, neither we need a connection nor we would pay for it. That is really the magic of Nokia, bringing us connected anywhere and anytime.

Obviously, we are not biased on posting articles nor we are against iPhone 4 to prove if just check Norman’s article about reasons why he shouldn’t wait for Nokia N8.
